Genius Hour 1.3

Namaste!

This week went much better than the last few. I did my yoga more consistently and actually found some joy and relaxation in it.

Mostly, I just did some of my favorite/basic poses. Child's pose is my current favorite. I also did downward dog, cobra, and rag doll.

I did a whole relaxation routine outside before the weather got terrible. I really enjoyed being outside and I am going to miss it if the weather continues to not cooperate. This is the video I used. I really liked how Sarah Beth (the instructor) only talked when she needed to. It is much easier, in my opinion, to relax when the instructor does not keep talking through the poses. There were also cool brainwave sounds that were pretty calming.

Here are some pictures:

It actually was pretty relaxing. My favorite part was at the end when I got to do corpse pose. The lady said I could hold it for as long as I wanted to so I stayed out on my deck (flat on my back) for probably fifteen minutes. I almost fell asleep.

In terms of progress this week, I have been consistently touching my toes. I can tell I am going farther in sitting pikes, both with flexed and pointed feet. When standing, I can touch the ground as long as my knees are not locked straight. I am proud of how far I can go (even if my knees are bent).

I did dancer pose (scorpion but holding your foot with only one hand) as well. I did not get a picture, but my leg is straighter in my scorpion than it used to be. Progress!!

My goals for next week are to do my yoga everyday. I have been struggling to do any, especially on Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday when I work. I think even doing five minutes a day will really help me improve.

Namaste!

  1. That is a great goal Hannah and I hope that you are able to acheive it. Consistancy is key to just about everything. Speaking from experience, the easiest way to increase your success is to increase your time spent. Like you said, even doing just five minutes a day is going to help you. Sacrificing that 5 minutes out of your day will be very beneficial and eventually you will be able to turn your yoga into a habit and then part of your daily life. Keep it up!
