Genius Hour 2.4

Welcome Back to my art adventure. This week, I decided to focus on coloring and shading again, but this time with light coming from a specific source.

I started by drawing what was a sun shaped thing in the corner of my page. I am not too focused on making this look like a "finished" project so I did not spend a lot of time here.

I next started my blob. I chose this dark bluish color mostly because I like it. To chose color, you choose from the outside ring of the color wheel and then you can choose your shade on the inside triangle. For this blob, I still used the opaque acrylic brush that I used last week because I have found that that makes opaque colors the best.

After I used about four shades, I went back in with some closer shades. I did this by using the dropper tool. This allows you to touch your art with the pen and pick up the same color you were using before. This was super helpful because you can never quite get the same color twice by just using the wheel. This is what it looked like when I went in with all of my shades. This is also when I added the shadow for the first time. It looks like blood, but I just went with it.

The next step is to shade. I used the diffuser that is offered in the program. I struggled to get an even look until I messed with the settings. I figured out that though a larger diffuser is harder to use, it ends up making a more smooth look. I also added more of a super dark black color in the shadow to make it look a little better.

I also remembered to use my zoom option so I don't have to squint as much.

This is my "finished" project with my spaghetti sun. I also dabbled with writing on my tablet. The biggest issue I have found is that I click the buttons on the side of my pen when I try to do that and it just aggravates me.

Next week, I want to use my shading skills on an actual thing, not just a ball. I think I will play around with multiple different shapes and maybe watch a video on color theory so I can understand it better.
