Welcome back!
This week I decided to put my color knowledge to the test with an actual full blown art work thing. I decided to do a sunset over the ocean because it has lots of colors and does not involve a lot of shape.
I also worked with layers for the first time. Layers are pretty much just different screens you work on with their own independent attributes. The first time I tried, it ended up really weird and unusable. The program makes it really hard to make shapes so I struggled for a long time with that.
I started by adding a circle in the middle for the sun. I actually started with the gradient of the sun and sky.

This one actually didn't work. I couldn't figure out how to layer correctly. I deleted this one and tried again since I was pretty sure I messed up the make up of this one.
When I tried again, I didn't move the circle, I just made a layer with the sun and one with the sky by inverting what I was working with (inside vs outside the circle).

This is where I just had the sun layer. I worked with brushes and blenders to achieve a gradient look.
For the water, I used a different blender than I usually use. I think it made the water have more texture. For color, I used a dark blue with a light blue on top and just blended it a lot. (this was when I first started)

This is my "finished" product:

I think I am going to work on it some more next week to make the layers look more cohesive. I am actually super proud of how it turned out, especially considering how hard I struggled in the beginning to even make it work. The more I know the program, the faster everything has gone and I am excited for next week!
